Polished Pathways is a community-driven initiative established by McKayla Young to restore dignity and confidence in underserved communities. By providing essential personal care items, professional attire, school supplies, and access to technology, the initiative prepares individuals for educational and professional opportunities. Inspired by the McKinney-Vento Act, Polished Pathways bridges the gap between appearance and opportunity, fostering empowerment and self-worth.

McKayla supports the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women campaign, aiming to raise awareness about heart disease in women and fund educational scholarships.
2025 Miss America Pageant
McKayla Elizabeth Young is honored to serve as Miss Smithfield 2025, becoming the first Black woman to hold this title. With a background in higher education, development, research, and data analytics, McKayla holds degrees in Biomedical and Biological Sciences. Her passion for community engagement and empowerment is deeply personal, inspired by the loss of her grandmother to heart disease. Through her initiative, Polished Pathways, McKayla is committed to uplifting underserved communities.
